What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a therapeutic technique based on the traditional Asian theory of life energy or Qi (chee), which flows through the body along specific channels, called meridians. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, imbalances in the flow of Qi is responsible for or contributes to a wide variety of medical conditions, which may therefore be treated by restoring this balance creating optimal health.

How does it work?
The acupuncturist inserts needles into specific acupoints along selected meridians determined by the symptoms presented. This is done in order to either increase or decrease the flow of Qi along that meridian, thus bringing balance to the internal functioning of the body.
Recent studies observing acupuncture suggest that it has a stimulating effect on the nervous system. These effects mobilize and regulate "Qi", moisture, and blood to invigorate proper function of the muscles, nerves, vessels, glands and organs throughout the body. In simple terms acupuncture will improve all the circulatory systems of the body and reduce inflammation allowing the body to function more efficiently and repair itself.
